September A dry September, after a very wet summer. Ottery however didn't flood, so the Flood defence scheme obviously worked !! Temperatures were interestingly down from 2006 for the month, and Rainfall was up by 10mm. Although the evenings are getting darker, the summer is still trying to persist, with some warm sunshine.
October Rainfall was not an issue in October, with only 29mm vs 109mm in 2006. This was a welcome change for the year, after the rain that was seen over the summer. Temperature wise, it was a cold October, with lower temperatures than in 2006.
November With the weather cooling over November, and a depression (994 mb) around the 18th, which induced some heavy rain (70mm) there was some normality to the weather systems for this month. Compared to 2006, there was an increase in rain, but with similar temperatures.
December December started with a build up to another depression forcing winds around the 9th to come in from the Atlantic. Peak winds were quite high for this location at 29mph, which meant that the wind turbine stats were making interesting reading. It seems that weather like this all the time would be the only way to make the Windsave cover it's cost !! Christmas Day was warm, but overcast with fog/mist. No White Christmas yet again. The Year ended overcast, but as the clock struck midnight, it was dry, and not gales as it was back in 2006 !! |
