Snow on the 6th Jan, where 5.5cm fell. The temperatures remained low for the next week resulting in the snow lying for some time. First casualty was the Davis Rain Gauge again, and the reed being broken due to icing. This has been replaced, however the unit will be re-worked in the spring.

Another dry month until the end, when the rain came down and a cold snap that resulted in frost and sleet showers. Yes, Sleet in March !! The station had an issue with the raingauge in march due to a faulty reedswitch again, however this is to be re-engineered in the summer to prevent further issues. A server issue with the USB connectivity has been finally resolved.

A very dry month, with very little rain and very warm. We also had a different kind of precipitation due to the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Iceland which grounded flights across europe, due to the risk of silica build-up in the engines. Being near Exeter Airport, it was quite odd not to hear the planes going overhead.

Another very dry month, with very little rain and very warm. Dare I say that we will get a good summer ? With the low rainfall, reservoirs are at around 80%, but I don't think we are looking at a a hosepipe ban just yet !! We also had a Frost day, with a 0.0 reading, which was not a fault !!
UV readings are still a little high, however calibration is being carried out to change this, however the response in line with active solar is very good.

Well, I know I said it last year, but summer has arrived with high temperatures and only small amounts of rain. This was another month of limited rainfall, under the average by quite a bit. The lawns on the street are starting to suffer by going yellow/brown however looking on the bright side, it does'nt need cutting either !
Elsewhere in the country, the subject of Hosepipe bans have been mentioned, however latest stats from SWW show that we are at 89% capacity.

August was hot and sunny, and wet and cloudy !! Not as hot as June and July though, but it's a trend that is becoming apparent. It's still been a dry year, which could cause issues later this year or next. Elsewhere in the World, Russia has had forest fires and Crop failure, so Wheat will be very expensive in the winter.
Unfortunatly, we have had issues with the 1-wire bus, therefore the Soil temps, UV and Solar and Leaf wetness are all out of action or are intermittent.
